Mental Health Council of Tasmania – Take a Minute

Mental Health Council of Tasmania’s Take a minute campaign helps Tasmanians take better care of their mental health and wellbeing. It encourages people to use small, consistent habits and everyday activities to lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
The Take a minute initiative uses innovative, research-backed practices to move the focus of mental health and suicide prevention from reactive to proactive strategies. The campaign aims to shift from the traditional approach to mental health and wellbeing, which often focuses on responding to issues once they arise, to focus more on prevention, early intervention, and self-care. By integrating positive psychology and a strengths-based approach, the campaign highlights everyday activities that promote mental wellbeing, health, and resilience.
The initiative provides practical tools, like the 7-minute challenge, to make mental wellbeing easy for everyone to access and act on. These tools help people and communities take preventative steps, build resilience, have positive conversations about mental health, and reduce stigma. While the campaign was tested and co-designed with a wide range of groups to make sure it resonated across a broad audience, it has also been tailored for different communities and workplaces to suit unique needs.
The Take a minute campaign people simple, actionable steps to improve their mental health. It encourages them to take care of themselves and not wait until they are struggling with their mental health to act. By giving people practical, positive actions, the campaign is making a meaningful impact on the lives of many.
