Tasmanian LiFE Awards – 2025 Nominee

Outstanding Contribution LiFE Award

The Outstanding Contribution LiFE Award recognises individuals in Tasmania who work to reduce the rate and impact of suicide. Whether they are volunteers or working in paid positions, their efforts, insight, and initiative make our communities stronger and more resilient. They provide the necessary tools to those struggling with the idea that life is not worth living and support individuals and communities. They advocate for better services in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.

Felicity Lee

Felicity’s unwavering dedication to helping her daughter through her mental health struggles is a powerful example of the difference the actions of one person can make.

Not every child would share their mental health struggles with their parent. And not every parent would fiercely and wholeheartedly offer their support to their child. But Felicity’s experience supporting her daughter not only strengthened the bond between the two of them, but inspired her to embark on a journey to support as many people as she can.

Felicity was with her daughter every step of the way while she was struggling with her mental health. She sat beside her daughter all night during her hospital stays and advocated to get her every bit of help possible. She was her daughter’s rock during this hard time, offering the best support she could.

This experience ignited a new purpose in Felicity. She is dedicated to using her personal journey to support as many other people as she can. Felicity has completed a Mental Health First Aid course and provides disability support for several organisations. She is continuing to learn every day to help prevent suicide.

Felicity’s nomination is a heartfelt thank you from her daughter – the first person she helped through a tough time, but certainly not the last.

The Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Community Network acknowledges that we live and work on Aboriginal land, land of the palawa/pakana people of lutruwita (Tasmania). We pay tribute to the Elders past and present and respect the collective ancestry that has brought us all here today. We honour all those who continue caring for country, sharing stories, and upholding rights.
