Tasmanian LiFE Awards – 2025 Nominee
Priority Populations LiFE Award
The Priority Populations Life Award recognises the positive impact by individuals, organisations or community groups that are addressing, preventing or responding to suicidal behaviours in populations and groups disproportionately affected by suicide in Tasmania. They may also be highlighting the gaps and identifying strategies and embedding solutions specifically for people in need. This award highlights those who are culturally sensitive, overcome barriers, promote inclusion and delivers improved outcomes for priority populations.

Live Well Tasmania

Live Well Tasmania works to improve the lives of disadvantaged people. They believe in a whole of community approach that fosters inclusivity and support for everyone. Members of their local community can struggle to access mental health support and can suffer from high rates of trauma. Live Well Tasmania works to provide them a safe environment to build supportive, empathetic relationships.
Live Well Tasmania is working on a range of projects to improve mental health and prevent suicide. These projects give people positive, caring social interactions through activities that have a sense of purpose.
Live Well Tasmania’s projects include Community Mondays, which offers a weekly community lunch and an arts and crafts session with a qualified art therapist. The Social Activation Project supports four young people with self-esteem issues to build confidence and skills as they plan and deliver a Youth Week mental health walk. Care Farming gives participants who have anxiety and depression a chance to be in nature, while the mental health library offers free resources, books and information on mental health.
By keeping their projects free and open to everyone, Live Well Tasmania helps disadvantaged people overcome the barriers of low income and social isolation, all while giving them a place to be and a purpose for being there.
